Professor A. G. Kurosh was born on January 19, 1908. He made a great contribution to the development of group theory, ring theory, theory of lattices, category theory, universal algebra. His classical theorem on subgroups in free products of groups gained numerous applications in algebra and geometry. From 1949 till 1971, A. G. Kurosh was the Head of the Department of Algebra of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of A. G. Kurosh, the Department of Algebra of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of MSU organizes the International Algebraic Conference on May 23–25, 2018.
